1. Vlad in Tears - Album coming soon
The dark rock/alternative band Vlad In Tears will release their ninth album 'Relapse' on March 8, 2024, via Metalville Records. However, prior to that, the band has released their latest single 'Break Away' from the upcoming album.
'Break Away' is described as 'the voice of all those' who are tired of lies, hypocrisy, and tyranny. It is the anthem for all those who need to break free from prejudice and misjudgment. Following 'Broken Bones', a song about broken love that leaves scars we may not want to let go of, and 'Hear Me Out', a song about our inner demons, 'Break Away' continues the band's tradition of exploring deep themes through their music. I'm looking forward to being able to listen to the full album soon. 2. Ray Noir Remix by Meersein
In the January issue of this newsletter, we had the pleasure of hosting an interview with the artist Ray Noir! We hit it off right away, and it was clear to both of us that this wouldn't be just a one-time interview.
Ray Noir recently released his album, and I had the honor of remixing his song "Latency"! The release is set for Friday, March 15th! Here's an exclusive sneak peek of the song!
3. Interview "Schatten Muse"
1. Hi, I'm excited to welcome you to the interview with the band "Schatten Muse"! You're musically rooted in the genre of "Neue Deutsche Todeskunst" (New German Death Art). It's a relatively lesser-known genre; where does your inspiration come from?
Schatten: Hi and thank you very much for the interview. Neue Deutsche Todeskunst inspires us both musically and aesthetically as we have been listening and following to this genre for many years. We wanted to put together an addition to the underground Neue Deutsche Todeskunst scene and delve into old school inspirations with absolute mastery. Muse: I grew into the Gothic scene with the New German Death Art after German unification and also moved privately in the environment of the greats of the genre. I was already fascinated by this type of art back then, but I did'nt have the opportunity to become active myself until much later. I was starting a first NDT-band with a Finnish musician from 2019-2020 and after he lost interest, I was lucky enough to work with Schatten, who is a good and experienced musician. We are very pleased how it went. 2. A project from Athens and Berlin, how did you all come together back then? And how does the collaboration work? S: Initially, during the communication I had with Sylvia, we thought of recording a song. We found that we had a chemistry with many ideas that we were in a position to make a "Neue Deutsche Todeskunst" (New German Death Art) band. So Schatten Muse was born! Sylvia writes all the lyrics and does all the vocals. I compose all the music and do the production. We meet in Greece and record the material in my personal music studio. M: We realized we should try doing a whole album. During the Corona period we initially had to be patient to be able to go to the studio together. My flights were canceled again and again. But in the end it was great to record the songs and enjoy the successful result. 3. Your debut album "Vergänglichkeit" was released in 2022; are there any plans for another album? S: Yes our debut album "Vergänglichkeit" was released by The Circle Music in physical format ( Vinyls and CD's ) and digital . We have composed the entire second album and are in the stage where we are working on the artwork. The atmosphere breading these new tracks is Neue Deutche Todeskunst as each one is considered a key to unlock infinite archetypes within the mind and immerse the listener to a transcendental state. You can listen and download the "Vergänglichkeit" in our Bandcamp page : https://schattenmuse.bandcamp.com M: Already on the first album we implemented the New German Death Art classically and also introduced new aspects. We're continuing this with the second album. The pieces are of different types to add variety, but are always true to the one basic theme that defines this genre. It could also be described as a modernized form of the New German Death Art. 4. On the album, there's the song "Endlichkeit" (Finiteness). How did you come up with the idea to write a song about the concept of the finiteness of existence? S: All the lyrics of the album are written by Sylvia (Muse). My inspiration about the music for the song "Endlichkeit", comes from the question of whether one will ultimately find true purification in the throes of death ? M: My texts are mostly quite personal. "Finitude" deals with the loss of people from our environment through death and the resulting realization that we will never meet again in this existence, since there will be this end point for each of us here. Of course, death is one of the crucial elements in the lyrics of this genre anyway. 5. You cover a song by "Goethes Erben" on your album. How did that come about? Do you have a special connection to the band? S: We had the inspiration to cover the song "Das Schwarze Wesen" which we like very much, from Goethes Erben which set (along with some other bands) the New German Death Art / New German Art Movement. Sylvia performed this concoction of ecstasy flawlessly ...futility and despair are intertwined throughout this work of bleak despair. M: Well, Goethes Erben is an important representative from the first hour of this music genre. It made sense to choose this band and such a succinct title. I have to admit that it was'nt easy and I had to practice a bit for it. But it worked great and can be heard alongside the original. 4. Joachim Witt - Starschnitt
