Come join us, and let's celebrate together and toast to the new year! 2. Interview "Sinister Seduction"
Question 1:
For those among the readers who may not be familiar with you, who are you, and what kind of music do you create? We are Mathias Blind from Stuttgart (Germany) and Judith Soyka from Budapest (Hungary). Our musical style is a blend of Darkwave and Neue Deutsche Todeskunst with a touch of eroticism. We've coined our music style as Darkeroticgothpop. Question 2: Your name "Sinister Seduction," what does it stand for, and how did you come up with it? Sinister Seduction stands for "Finstere Verführung" in German. We chose the name in 2021 because we felt it has a dark and erotic sound that suits our music well. Question 3: You released several songs in 2023, and now your next release "Gefallener Engel" is on the horizon. These are all single releases, a common practice for bands, especially in the newcomer scene. Do you believe the era of full-length albums is over? Honestly, we think the times of releasing CDs, especially for newcomers like us, unfortunately, are over. We believe that single releases online are the future. However, we will continue to regularly release full-length albums digitally on Bandcamp. Question 4: How do you personally deal with this? I know Matthias is a CD collector himself. It's tough, but we believe it's the natural course of things that everything is now released online and digitally. It's an unstoppable process. However, it's also an opportunity for newcomers like us to self-market and promote without being tied to a distributor and incurring significant costs. Question 5: Let's talk about your next single (Release: 26.01.2024). I had the privilege of hearing your song in advance. A fantastic song! It will resonate with those who appreciate melancholic goth ballads. The song revolves around loss, grief, or pain felt by an angel, describing how the angel's hope fades away in the verses. Where does the inspiration for this text come from? Firstly, thank you for the compliment. The song is about an angel searching for true love throughout its lifetime but not finding or being able to reach it. The angel's hope diminishes more and more, and it becomes exhausted from the constant struggle. The inspiration comes from our own experiences of pain and loss in life. Question 6: How should one imagine the creative process with you? Do you write together? We write the songs together, with Judith being the muse for everything. Question 7: One last question – what's in store for "Sinister Seduction" in this new year? Can readers expect many releases as in 2023? Absolutely, there will be many single releases this year, and a new full-length album called "Heldenplatz" is planned for the end of the year. Thank you for your time; it was a pleasure to interview you! We thank you for the pleasant interview. 3. Interview "Ray Noir"
Question 1
Hallo Ray Noir, we're thrilled to have you featured in our newsletter! To kick things off, could you please introduce yourself to our readers? Hello, I'm Ray Noir, an alt.goth electro-metal artist originally from Norway, now residing in London for the past 12 years. My musical journey began with the release of my first single, "Double Trouble," in 2014. Currently, I'm gearing up for the launch of my first full-length mixtape on January 12th after spending the last couple of years in the studio. Question 2 You had a new single. What inspired you to write the song "King of the Lonely Land," and how did the creative process unfold? The inspiration behind "Lonely King" draws from my personal struggles growing up as a queer individual, navigating loneliness without relatable role models. Collaborating with KANGA, who's based in LA, and co-writer Madeleine Wood from Australia, we crafted the song through internet communication, reflecting the global nature of our creative process. Question 3 Is there a personal experience or emotion that influenced the lyrics, especially those describing the search for peace and the cycle of loneliness? "Lonely King" is a deeply personal song reflecting my journey of self-acceptance. It delves into the experience of feeling isolated within a community without relatable role models, ultimately embracing and becoming the "King of Lonely Land." Question 4 How did the collaboration with Kanga come about for the song "Lonely King"? The collaboration with KANGA happened organically through a mutual friend in America. Our creative synergy resulted in multiple tracks, including "Pity Party," "Latency," "Lonely King," and the unreleased "Scorpio," all part of my upcoming mixtape. Question 5 As we wrap up, what can fans look forward to from you in 2024? Any upcoming concerts, releases, or exciting projects on the horizon? Looking ahead to 2024, I'm excited to share that my mixtape "Scorpio" will be released on January 12th. Fans can anticipate exciting remixes, new songs, and collaborations on the horizon. There's also a possibility of tours, so stay tuned for updates on my Instagram @raynoir for the latest happenings in the coming year. |
